Todo me funciona perfecto, pero en el fichero de log:
/var/log/smsd/smsd.log
Me muestra este error contínuamente:

¿A qué puede ser debido? ¿se puede quitar ese error "Bit Error Rate: not known or not detectable"?

¿A qué puede ser debido? ¿se puede quitar ese error "Bit Error Rate: not known or not detectable"?
Si tu módem no tiene soporte para Bit error rate, puesto que smsd hace esa comprobación, mostrará el error. Pero esto no es inconveniente. Dicho error puede quitarse si en el fichero de configuración de smsd:
/etc/smsd.conf
Añades la siguiente línea (que ponemos en negrita):
devices = GSM1
logfile = /var/log/smsd/smsd.log
loglevel = 7
user = root
infofile = /var/run/smsd/smsd.working
pidfile = /var/run/smsd/smsd.pid
# 3.1.5 introduced smart logging
# once your configuration is OK, set log level lower (5 is good in most cases)
smart_logging = yes
Con "signal_quality_ber_ignore=yes" smsd no hará esta comprobación y por lo tanto no mostrará el error. Para que se apliquen los cambios tienes que reiniciar el servicio de smsd:
